I chose a very obvious quote for this blog from the story "The Gift of the Magi" because to me it speaks out the most out of the other stories we read for this week. Della sold her most prized possession just to be able to get something for her husband. She gets him a beautiful chain to go with his prized pocket watch. Jim, unknowing of Dela's recent actions, must've been in the same predicament and sells his pocket watch to buy her expensive combs for her hair. They each gave away their most valuable possession just to enhance the other's possession; they obviously care more about the other than they care about themselves, and that makes them wise- even though the quote states that they were 'unwise' in sacrificing things for each other. They were completely selfless in their attempts to make this Christmas the best for the other and even though their gifts wer useless, they were both very happy with them and presumably had a fantastic Christmas anyway.
